How We Got Started
Living At Peace was founded in January of 2020. Covid appearing so suddenly after only two months after opening we quickly strategized to increase the safety in our office. We provide temperature checks and suggest masks for those who are not vaccinated. All of our offices and thrift items are properly sanitized daily.
With the number of deaths and grief caused by Covid and additional violence in our community, it only seemed right to provide the community with individual and group grief counseling sessions. We will continue to bring this community therapeutic relief.
Our mission is to enhance individuals, families, and communities by applying peaceful strategies in therapy.
Licenses & Qualifications
Our Founder
Mrs. Sherry Matthews is a Clinical Social Worker/therapist. She received her undergraduate degree in Business Management from Fayetteville State University. Sherry Matthews worked with a local foster care agency for close to ten years helping to ensure safe environments for infants, children, and teens. Upon her discovering her passion to assist and help those that are disenfranchised, disadvantaged, and displaced due to lack of recourse and unsafe living conditions, she decided to pursue a Masters's in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
Ms. Matthews published a parenting class workbook (Ten Step Module Cognitive Behavioral Approach: Parenting Class Workbook) to help parents who have been mandated by the state department of Social Services and State Court Systems. The workbook is a must-read for parents who just want to enhance their parenting skills.
